THE BRICK’S This Is Our Home Contest

June 15 – 30, 2017 (the “Contest”)


This Contest shall be conducted by The Brick Warehouse LP ("The Brick")


  • The Contest will run from 12:00 AM EDT on June 15, 2017 to 11:59:59 PM EDT on June 30, 2017 (the “Contest Period”)
  • The Grand Prize will be administered and awarded by The Brick


  • Subject to compliance with the Official Rules of the Contest, this Contest is open to all residents of Canada, including Quebec, who have reached the age of majority on or before the Selection Date except employees of The Brick, and Starburst Creative.
  • Participants agree to abide by the Official Rules as set out herein, subject to all federal, provincial and municipal laws.
  • It is a condition of eligibility that the winners authorize The Brick to announce and publish his/her name, address and photograph, without remuneration or consideration, in any forthcoming publicity.


No purchase or payment of any kind is necessary to enter or win. A valid e-mail address is required to participate in the Contest. Many public libraries, retail businesses and others offer free computer and internet access and a number of internet service providers and other companies offer free email addresses.


To enter the Contest, during the Contest Period, entrants must:

  • Take a picture of something that represents Canada to you—eg: scenery / home / image / logo / sporting event etc.
  • There are 3 methods of entry:
    1. If by Twitter
    a. have a Twitter account
    b. Tweet your photo and tag The Brick @TheBrick
    c. You will be prompted to complete the entry form
    2. If by Instagram
    a. have an Instagram account
    b. Post your photo with the hashtag “#ourhomeourCanada” and tag @BrickWarehouse
    c. You will be prompted to complete the entry form
    3. If you don’t have a Twitter or Instagram account, go to www.ourhomeourcanada.ca /
    a. notredemeurenotrecanada.caUpload your photo
    b. Complete the entry form that you are prompted to complete
  • Take a picture of something that represents Canada to you—eg: scenery / home / image / logo / sporting event etc.
  • Odds of winning decrease as the number of entry forms increase.


The Participant will receive a message, following a successful claim of entry:

  • Congrats! You’ve successfully claimed your post and have been entered into the prize draw!
We’ll be drawing the winner on July 4, 2017 so make sure to check your email (and your spam folder, just in case) to see if you won!


One (1) Grand Prize of a trip for 2 anywhere in Canada (estimated at $5,000.00).

6.1 Within thirty (30) days of being confirmed the Grand Prize Winner (subject to the verification below), the Winner must provide The Brick with:

  • their legal name and the legal name of their travel companion
  • a destination in Canada serviced by a major airline
  • travel dates
  • name of preferred hotel

6.2 Within five (5)* days of being provided the above information by the Grand Prize Winner, The Brick will:

  • Book and pay for a return (economy fare) flight at the chosen destination (each return flight not to exceed $1,500 per person, inclusive of all airline fees and taxes)
  • Book and pay for three (3) nights hotel stay at the chosen destination (each night not to exceed $333.00, inclusive of hotel fees and taxes)
  • Present the Grand Prize Winner with $1,000 cheque in spending money (*cheque to be provided within two (2) weeks)
  • No compensation will be provided should the airfare and/or hotel be under the maximum amount stated above.

For Canadian citizens travelling in Canada, all passengers in the party will require a government issued ID to board airplanes, trains or buses.

6.3 Should the Grand Prize Winner be unwilling or unable to travel, The Brick, in its discretion, will give the Grand Prize Winner $3,000.00.


On July 4, 2017 at 3:00 PM EDT, a representative from Starburst (a third party database vendor), will initiate a computer generated random draw of five names to obtain one (1) winner (“Eligible Winner”). The additional four (4) entries drawn are back up entry forms in the event the initial Eligible Winner is non-responsive after contact, fails to comply with the contest rules, or is unable to complete the skill testing question, and those names will be recorded in the name they were drawn. A representative from The Brick will use his/her reasonable efforts to contact the Eligible Winner by phone or e-mail after the Draw Date. If the Eligible Winner cannot be reached by telephone or has not contacted The Brick within five (5) days of The Brick leaving messages to do so, then that person will be disqualified and The Brick shall proceed to contact the next person whose name was drawn.


The Eligible Winner whose name has been selected on the Draw Date must:

  • Within ten (10) business days following the Draw Date, correctly answer a time-limited, arithmetical skill-testing question without the assistance of any person or mechanical/recording device(s). The skill-testing process shall be administered at a pre-arranged time and place;
  • Execute a declaration and release form confirming compliance with the Official Contest Rules and acceptance of the Prize; and
  • Should the Eligible Winner fail to answer the skill-testing question correctly or is unable to attend at the time and place designated by The Brick for the administration of same, that participant shall be disqualified and the skill- testing question shall be administered to the next selected, eligible participant.


By participating, entrants agree that: a) these Official Contest Rules, the decisions and The Brick’s records of the draw or any other aspect of this contest shall be final and conclusive in all respects; and b) release, discharge, indemnify and hold harmless The Brick, its affiliated and related enterprises and their trustees, directors, officers, assigns, and their employees, representatives, advertising and other agents from any liability, claims, damages, demands, actions, or causes of action whatsoever which they, their heirs, successors, assigns, executors, or administrators may now or hereafter have directly or indirectly against them or any of them in respect of or relating to the Contest and/or the acceptance or use, misuse, or possession of any prize. By accepting a prize the winner agrees to The Brick’s use of their names, city, province or territory of residence and/or photograph for advertising and publicity purposes without compensation.


The Brick reserves the right to amend or vary the Official Contest Rules, including the imposition or addition of new rules which are deemed by The Brick in its sole discretion necessary for business efficacy.

The Brick will use the contact information provided in contest entries for administration of this Contest and/or to ascertain your needs and market to you. We may communicate with you for any of these purposes by telephone, fax, text messaging, or other electronic means, and automatic dialing-announcing device, at the numbers you have provided us, or by internet, mail, email and other methods. By entering this Contest, you acknowledge and agree to give permission to The Brick to collect, use and disclose your personal information in accordance with The Brick’s privacy policy (“Privacy Policy”). Any litigation respecting the conduct or organization of a publicity contest may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux du Québec for a ruling. Any litigation respecting the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the Régie only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement.
